French vineyards have enjoyed worldwide popularity since time immemorial. Stretching from Burgundy to Bordeaux, this landscape is renowned for its unique and outstanding wine varieties, which have won worldwide acclaim. Here you will find a selection of the best. If you're looking for a quality and flavour-balanced French wine, read on.

The wines of France have a long and illustrious history that dates back to Roman times, when the first wine growers began cultivating grapes in what is now France. Today, France is home to many famous vineyards that produce different types of wine, including red, white and orange wines. Each region has its own unique climate and soil conditions, which means that wines from different areas have their own specific character and flavour characteristics.

Organic wine

For those who prefer an organic approach to viticulture and winemaking, there is a growing trend in organic wine. These wines are grown and produced without the use of synthetic pesticides and herbicides, meaning they are more environmentally friendly. Organic wines also often reflect the unique character of the soil and climatic conditions of the vineyards.

For those who want to get to know the diversity of French wines, a wine tasting is an excellent choice. You don't have to go to France - just visit the modern French restaurant Colette or order a package of selected wines directly at home. Our e-shop for French wine offers a selection of the best varieties.

Pét-Nat wine

If you are adventurous and like to taste something new, try Pét-Nat wine. This wine is made using traditional natural fermentation methods, giving it a refreshing and natural character. Pet Nat wine is characterised by its natural and spontaneous fermentation method. It is prepared by primary fermentation in barrel and partial fermentation in bottle under crown cap. Unlike sparkling wines such as Champagne, the so-called secondary fermentation is omitted in its production.

Savoie wine or Bordeaux wine?

The Savoie Apremont wine region, like Bordeaux and Bourgogne, is rightly considered one of the best. The Savoie vineyards offer quality French red and white wine. The Savoie region is surrounded by majestic mountains, which have a significant influence on the resulting quality of the wine. The mountains provide the vineyards with protection from strong winds and the sun's rays, creating ideal growing conditions for the grapes.

The most sought-after wines from this region are clearly the Mondeuse, a dry, lively and energetic red wine with fine fruity tannins. By contrast, the white wines of the Apremont area are dominated by the dry, clean and fresh Terres Blanches. It is followed by Moulin. Leaving a pleasant acidity, this French white wine offers generous notes of lemon and white flowers, a buttery mouthfeel, juicy pineapple and lemon zest. The trio is then rounded off by the light mineral En Route Pour L'Apéro with flavours of citrus, pear and apricot.

The sunny Languedoc-Roussillon region offers equally elegant flavours. Red wine lovers here can taste Tian Ran from the Cinsault variety. Its rich and delicate floral aroma, notes of thyme, rosemary and raspberries will surely enchant you. If you get a craving for a French orange wine, pour yourself a Pomone. An orange wine with flavours of exotic fruits, saffron, coriander and minerality on the finish.
